Service Department Pay: $32.00 to $55.00+ per flat-rate hour based on experience, certifications, productivity, and skill level, with bonus opportunities available Compensation may vary based on GM/GMC training, ASE certifications, diesel experience, diagnostic ability, flat-rate production, quality of work, and overall qualifications.

Our Service Department works on GMC trucks, SUVs, diesel vehicles, GM products, used vehicles, customer-pay repairs, warranty repairs, internal repairs, maintenance, diagnostics, and heavy-line repairs.

Position Summary

The automotive technician is responsible for diagnosing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing vehicles in a dealership service department. This includes customer-pay repairs, warranty repairs, internal repairs, used vehicle inspections, maintenance services, drivability diagnosis, electrical diagnosis, brakes, suspension, engine repairs, transmission repairs, diesel repairs, and general automotive repair.

Technicians are expected to complete quality repairs, follow repair orders, document work clearly, communicate recommendations, return parts properly, and follow dealership and manufacturer procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, inspect, maintain, and repair customer vehicles.
  • Perform maintenance services including oil changes, brakes, tires, batteries, filters, fluids, alignments, and inspections.
  • Perform customer-pay, warranty, internal, and used vehicle repairs.
  • Complete multi-point inspections and document recommendations clearly.
  • Use scan tools, diagnostic equipment, and service information to identify repair needs.
  • Communicate repair findings, parts needs, and additional recommendations to the Service Advisor or management.
  • Complete repair orders accurately and document all work performed.
  • Follow GM, GMC, Buick, Chevrolet, and dealership repair procedures.
  • Return old parts and unused parts according to dealership process.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Report vehicle damage, safety concerns, parts issues, or process concerns to management immediately.
  • Participate in manufacturer training and dealership training when required.
  • Maintain professionalism, productivity, and quality workmanship.
Qualifications
  • Automotive repair experience preferred.
  • Dealership technician experience preferred but not required.
  • GM, GMC, Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, or ASE certifications are a plus.
  • Diesel, transmission, electrical, drivability, heavy-line, or EV experience is a plus.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair vehicles accurately.
  • Ability to follow written repair orders and document work performed.
  • Strong attendance, reliability, and work ethic.
  • Professional attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work in a shop environment.
