The City of Vacaville invites applications for the position of Senior Building Inspector. We currently have one vacancy within our Community and Economic Development Department.

This recruitment process will create an eligibility list for this position which can be used to fill other vacancies (within this classification) that may develop in the next twelve (12) month period.

Salary and Benefits Information

$100,929 - $122,680 annually

A 2% COLA is scheduled for 11/1/2026

Some examples of job duties are as follows:

* Perform detailed inspections of residential, commercial and industrial construction projects to ensure code compliance.

* Review construction plans and specifications for adherence to building regulations and safety standards.

* Provide guidance and supervision to junior inspectors, ensuring consistency in inspections and interpretations of building codes.

* Respond to inquiries from contractors, developers and the public regarding building code requirements and inspection processes.
