DescriptionElementary Substitute Teacher
Summary of Position:
The Substitute Teacher shall be committed to living a biblical lifestyle and supporting the mission of Vacaville Christian Schools. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing a Christ-centered, structured, positive, and safe classroom environment in the absence of the regularly assigned teacher.
The Substitute Teacher will follow the lesson plans, classroom procedures, and expectations provided by the regular classroom teacher and VCS administration. The Substitute Teacher shall prayerfully support students academically, spiritually, and socially while maintaining continuity of instruction and classroom routines.
Hours of Work:
Hours are determined by the substitute assignment. The Substitute Teacher is expected to arrive at the designated reporting time and remain on campus through the completion of all assigned responsibilities for the school day.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout interactions with students and classroom activities.
- Comply with the VCS Statement of Faith, Educational Philosophy and Objectives, Christian Role Model Expectations, Employee Handbook, and applicable school policies and procedures.
- Follow the lesson plans, schedules, instructions, and classroom procedures provided by the regular classroom teacher.
- Provide instruction and facilitate learning activities using the materials and plans prepared by the regular teacher.
- Maintain a structured, positive, Christ-centered learning environment.
- Establish and maintain appropriate standards of student behavior and classroom management consistent with VCS expectations and procedures.
- Provide clear directions and appropriate supervision for students throughout the school day.
- Maintain student safety and follow all VCS procedures regarding emergencies, student health, supervision, and campus security.
- Take attendance and complete any required classroom or administrative documentation.
- Supervise students during assigned recess, dismissal, carpool, or other duties as directed.
- Protect the confidentiality of student, family, and school information.
- Use classroom technology and school resources appropriately and only as needed to fulfill the assigned lesson plans and responsibilities.
- Communicate concerns regarding student behavior, safety, academics, or other significant issues to the appropriate administrator and/or regular classroom teacher.
- Leave clear and appropriate notes for the regular classroom teacher regarding completed work, student behavior, concerns, and any changes from the planned schedule.
- Maintain professional and respectful communication with students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration.
- Refrain from making significant changes to lesson plans, classroom expectations, assignments, or established procedures without administrative approval.
- Be flexible and willing to assist in other classrooms, supervision areas, or school responsibilities when reasonably requested by administration.
- Inform the administration as soon as possible if unable to fulfill an accepted substitute assignment.

- Demonstrate the ability to follow the Matthew 18 Principle when dealing with leadership, faculty, administration, parents, and others.
- Attend a Bible-based church.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding students, families, faculty, and school matters.
- Ability to move about school buildings, classrooms, playgrounds, and campus as required by the assignment.
