Job SummaryBlue Mountain Construction Services in Vacaville, CA, has an Immediate opening for a Director of Purchasing and Inventory Control.
The Director of Purchasing & Inventory Control for the HVAC Department is responsible for overseeing all procurement and inventory management activities related to HVAC equipment, materials, and supplies. This role ensures cost‑effective purchasing strategies, accurate inventory levels, optimized stocking processes, vendor management, contract negotiations, and strong internal controls to support field operations and company objectives. The position requires strong leadership, analytical ability, and expertise in both procurement and inventory systems.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
Incumbent must have the skills, ability, and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize costs, quality, and supplier performance for HVAC materials and equipment.
- Lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, and supplier relationship management to ensure reliable and cost‑effective procurement.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to forecast purchasing needs and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Establish and maintain inventory control procedures to minimize waste and ensure adequate supply levels.
- Monitor market trends, industry developments, and pricing fluctuations to inform purchasing decisions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements related to HVAC procurement.
- Drive process improvements and implement cost‑saving initiatives within the purchasing function.
- Analyze purchasing data and generate reports to support decision‑making and strategic planning.
- Lead and develop a team of purchasing and inventory professionals, fostering a culture of efficiency and accountability.
Supervising, scheduling, assigning, monitoring and evaluating work of assigned staff are responsibilities for supervisory positions.
- Responsible for leading and developing a team of purchasing and inventory professionals.
- Manage procurement and inventory budgets, ensuring cost‑effective purchasing and optimal stocking strategies.
- Review and approve invoices, expense reports, inventory adjustments, and vendor contracts.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities, reduce carrying costs, and implement strategic initiatives to optimize spending and material flow.
Job Requirements

EducationBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.
ExperienceMinimum 7–10 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control, or supply chain management, ideally within HVAC or construction materials environments.
CertificationsRelevant procurement or supply chain certifications preferred.
Skills- Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to secure favorable pricing and contract terms.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, components, equipment, and industry suppliers.
- Strong understanding of inventory control principles, warehouse operations, and materials management best practices.
- Experience with ERP systems, procurement software, and inventory management tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Exceptional organizational, time management, and project management skills.
- Work is performed primarily indoors.
