About the Role:
As a Motorcycle Technician within the retail trade industry, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, performance, and reliability of motorcycles for our customers. Your expertise will be essential in diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing routine maintenance, and executing complex repairs to a high standard. You will work closely with the service team to deliver timely and efficient service, enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty.
This role demands a strong commitment to quality workmanship and adherence to safety protocols, contributing directly to the reputation and success of our retail operation. Ultimately, your work will enable riders to enjoy their motorcycles with confidence and peace of mind.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized motorcycle technician training program or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Proven experience in motorcycle repair and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of motorcycle mechanical and electrical systems.
- Valid driver’s license with M1 endorsement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) or equivalent.
- Experience working with Harley-Davidson motorcycle years and models.
- Familiarity with diagnostic software and computerized repair tools.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed inspections and diagnostics on motorcycles to identify mechanical, electrical, and safety issues.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake adjustments, tire replacements, and chain lubrication.
- Repair or replace defective parts including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components.
- Maintain accurate service records and communicate repair status and recommendations to customers and service advisors.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and manufacturer specifications during all repair and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with parts department to order and manage inventory of necessary components.
- Stay updated on the latest motorcycle technologies, tools, and repair techniques through ongoing training.
Skills:
The required skills enable the technician to accurately diagnose and repair a wide range of motorcycle issues, ensuring safety and performance standards are met. Mechanical aptitude and electrical knowledge are applied daily to troubleshoot complex problems and perform precise repairs. Communication skills are essential for explaining technical information clearly to customers and coordinating with team members. Preferred skills such as certification and familiarity with diagnostic software enhance efficiency and accuracy in service delivery.
