Controller, Accounting, Financial Reporting

Position Summary

R & H Mechanical is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented

Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. This position will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening internal controls, overseeing accounting processes, and providing timely financial reporting and analysis to support company leadership.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on financial leader who understands the accounting needs of a growing organization and is comfortable balancing day‑to‑day accounting responsibilities with higher‑level financial planning, analysis, and process improvement. Experience in the construction, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, or related trades industry is highly preferred.

• Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll‑related accounting, cash management, and financial reporting.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Lead the month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Monitor cash flow and provide leadership with timely financial forecasts and analysis.
• Prepare annual budgets and monitor actual performance against budget.
• Analyze financial results, identify trends, and communicate key findings to company leadership.
• Oversee job costing and work‑in‑progress reporting and help ensure accurate financial tracking of projects.
• Review account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, banks, insurance providers, and other financial partners as needed.
• Support tax preparation, audits, and other regulatory or compliance requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, systems, and efficiencies.
• Partner with operations and leadership to provide financial insight that supports sound business decisions.
• Supervise, develop, and support accounting team members as applicable.
• Maintain confidentiality of company, employee, customer, and financial information.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• [5+] years of progressive accounting or financial management experience.
• Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership experience preferred.
• Experience in construction, mechanical contracting, HVAC, plumbing, or a related industry strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Strong proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to both financial and non‑financial team members.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Salary Range: $100,000–$110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
