The Day-to-Day

  • Regulatory Program Administration:manage drinking water regulatory programs, including the Lead and Copper Rule, Disinfection Byproducts Rule, Total Coliform Rule, Discharge Monitoring Reporting, and the Partnership for Safe Water program, exercising independent judgment in interpreting requirements, overseeing compliance data, coordinating QA/QC with contract laboratories, and providing technical and redundancy support to ensure accurate, defensible, and continuous regulatory reporting.
  • Operational Support:Provide oversight and decision-making for water treatment and distribution systems using SCADA and operational data, serve as a backup Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC), participate in the supervisor on-call rotation, and evaluate system conditions to recommend corrective actions during abnormal or emergency situations.
  • Data Analysis & Performance Support:Lead analytical efforts for water operations performance and system optimization by developing and maintaining iHistorian SCADA queries and reporting tools, supporting internal and external data requests, and using KPIs and data trends to inform decisions.
  • System Improvement & Technical Leadership:Provide technical leadership for water treatment and distribution system improvement initiatives, operational studies, and optimization efforts, including flow control strategies, alarm management, SCADA improvements, process validation, and input to master planning and capital planning
  • Documentation, Standards & Knowledge Transfer:Support the development and continuous improvement of SOPs and O&M documentation, serve as a mentor and subject matter resource to operators and supervisors to promote consistency, standardization, and best practices across water operations.
Qualifications & Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of four years of progressive experience in water treatment and/or distribution system operations, and two years’ experience leading staff.
  • Ability to obtain Colorado Water Treatment Class A and Colorado Water Distribution Class III certifications within one year of hire.
  • Advanced knowledge of drinking water regulations, including the Safe Drinking Water Act and Colorado Regulation 11.
  • Strong understanding of water treatment and distribution system operations, SCADA systems, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to analyze complex operational and compliance data and exercise independent judgment on matters of significance.
  • Experience using Excel fordata analysis, formulas, charts, graphs, and historian or reporting queries.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of regulatory documentation and technical summaries.
Schedule

Monday–Friday, with participation in a rotating supervisor on-call schedule. Occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required to support operational continuity.

Compensation

The range for this position is $103,625 - $155,438. Starting range depends on qualifications but generally falls within the minimum and midpoint of the pay range.
