Staff Accountant

Business Services Department

Hiring Salary: $28.30 – $33.96 per hour

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant supports the District’s financial operations by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, managing grant accounting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and reporting requirements. This position works closely with district departments, schools, and administration to provide financial support and reporting services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and record financial transactions and adjustments within the District’s financial system.
  • Prepare financial reports, bank reconciliations, state reports, grant reports, and interim financial statements.
  • Assist with budgeting, audits, and financial compliance activities.
  • Perform internal audits of schools and departments.
  • Manage grant accounting, including expenditure tracking, revenue monitoring, and reimbursement requests.
  • Review and process journal entries, budget transfers, reimbursements, and district revenues.
  • Administer the District purchasing card program and review purchasing card statements.
  • Create reports, spreadsheets, schedules, and purchase orders for the Finance Department.
  • Provide support and training for users of the District’s financial accounting system.
  • Support construction project accounting and other special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience required;
    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting. Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and financial software systems.
