Surgical Technologist

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a OR for a temporary assignment in Vail, Colorado. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.

Location: Vail, Colorado Schedule: 8:00AM - 5:00PM x 5 Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension Pay Rate: $55 - $60/hr

Responsibilities for a OR:

• Assist during surgical procedures by ensuring and maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field and providing instrumentation as needed to the surgical team
• Apply expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique, combining knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation of tools and technologies in performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures
• Function with working knowledge of AORN standards
• Maintain and check all items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal and packaging integrity, sterile indicator if present, and expiration dates
• Ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that operative procedures are conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety
• Monitor sterile field for events that may contaminate, interfere, or alter the field and initiate or notify of need for corrective action under supervision
• Work towards competency or demonstrate competency with Tier 1 surgical cases
• Maintain flexibility while contributing to the individualized, ongoing delivery of care within the scope of practice
• Model effective, timely communication with the perioperative team with full participation in Time Out Process to include Briefings and Debriefings
• Assist team in patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation
• Maintain currency in new technologies and procedures, including instrumentation and equipment
• Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization
• Role model the principles of a Just Culture
• Maintain current BLS certification by American Heart Association
• Maintain valid Colorado Surgical Technologist licensure
• Comply with HIPAA requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned
