Assistant Housekeeping Manager

The Sonnenalp Hotel is seeking a full-time, year-round Assistant Housekeeping Manager to support daily housekeeping operations, lead and develop team members, and help ensure every guest enjoys an exceptional stay in a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment.

Wage: $56,500 - $67,800 + up to a 10% annual performance bonus + eligibility for up to a 12% Deferred Compensation Plan contribution.

Primary Purpose of Position

Assist the Director of Housekeeping in maintaining the highest standards at the hotel's guest rooms, restaurants, and public areas in terms of cleanliness and housekeeping service delivery. Responsible for consistently delivering the Sonnenalp cleanliness standards and assuring the highest levels of product maintenance and care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Assistant Housekeeping Manager will assist the Director of Housekeeping in interviewing, hiring, coaching, scheduling, training, and reviewing of all housekeeping, floral, uniform and laundry staff
  • Perform all functions of the housekeeping, laundry, and floral operations as needed
  • Prepare or assist in preparing housekeeping assignments for the housekeepers and supervisors, supervising on the floors, and checking guestrooms for cleanliness
  • Spot check guests' rooms behind room attendants & turndown attendants to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Provide feedback and prepare employee evaluations
  • Provide coaching and guidance for employees
  • Check public areas as well as the spa throughout the day to ensure cleanliness
  • Maintain inventory of storage areas and housekeeping closets and keep them up to date
  • Assist with ordering guestroom and laundry supplies
  • Handle guests' complaints with concern and empathy, and always follow up with guests to ensure complete satisfaction
  • Provide feedback to staff as needed
  • Train staff members on an ongoing basis on LHW standards
  • Respond to guest requests in a timely manner
  • Track employee attendance and enter/edit employee punches in Paychex as needed
  • Assist in laundry, mini bar, and rooms if needed
  • Attend all daily meetings and actively participate in any committees assigned to
  • Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and conduct
  • Use HotSOS for any guest requests or maintenance work orders
  • Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards within Housekeeping department
  • Report any safety hazards, concerns, or incidents to appropriate management
Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • College degree preferred
  • Minimum 1 year housekeeping experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a supervisory position
Special Skills/Equipment
  • Experience with HMS or similar Property Management System preferred
  • English and Spanish fluency preferred
  • Capable of using independent judgment/ solid decision making skills
  • Ability to anticipate guest needs, change goals and direction quickly, and multitask
  • Self-motivated and able to accomplish goals under minimal supervision at times
  • Proficiency with computer systems
  • Flexible availability required, to include nights, weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements

This role involves demanding physical abilities including but not limited to:

  • Must be able to stand for duration of shift
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum weight of approximately 25 lbs and have the ability to carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to kneel, bend, crawl
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals
