Job Description & How to Apply Below

Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (SSCV) is seeking an HR Manager to support the people behind one of the country’s most respected winter sports organizations. This is a full-time, year-round role in Vail, Colorado, designed for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and understands how to support staff across both peak winter intensity and quieter off-seasons. As SSCV continues to grow and evolve, we’re creating our first dedicated Human Resources role to bring greater focus, consistency, and support to our team—while preserving the flexibility and trust that define our culture.

This role isn’t about introducing bureaucracy. It’s about being a thoughtful partner to leadership and staff, strengthening what already works, and helping SSCV scale with care.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage payroll administration through Paycom, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a smooth employee experience
  • Design and deliver onboarding and employee experience initiatives, including orientation, benefits coordination, and training support
  • Support recruitment and hiring, from job postings and application screening through interviews, offers, and new hire paperwork
  • Partner with leadership on employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary matters with fairness and consistency
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims and related documentation in coordination with insurance providers
  • Develop and maintain job descriptions, compensation frameworks, and performance review standards
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook, balancing compliance with SSCV’s flexible culture
  • Conduct exit interviews and manage offboarding processes with professionalism and care
  • Own and improve Coaches Links, SSCV’s internal staff portal, keeping information current and accessible
  • Partner with leadership to support staff training efforts – coordinating resources and external facilitators as needed

What Makes This Role Different

  • A mission that matters – SSCV exists to develop more than athletes. Our work helps young people build character, courage, and commitment through outdoor snow sports
  • Support the people behind the magic – This role is about caring for and empowering the coaches and staff who create life-changing experiences for kids. You’ll see firsthand how meaningful this work is
  • Momentum and leadership alignment – With new leadership, a highly engaged Board, and strong community support, this is an exciting moment to join SSCV
  • High trust, real autonomy – The team works hard and takes care of one another. You’ll be trusted from day one, supported by thoughtful leadership, and given the autonomy to do your best work without micromanagement

Experience & Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in People Operations, Human Resources, or a related role, with broad ownership across core people functions
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence in a high-trust, flexible work environment
  • Experience managing HR systems, serving as a primary resource for employee support and compliance
  • Working experience with employee relations, workers’ compensation, and general compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to design and deliver effective onboarding and employee experience initiatives
  • Experience supporting recruitment and hiring, from job postings through offers and onboarding
  • Exposure to compensation frameworks, job descriptions, and performance review processes

Nice to Have, but not Required

  • PHR or SHRM certification
  • Paycom experience is highly preferred

Benefits & Work Environment

We believe our people do their best work when they’re trusted, supported, and given flexibility. SSCV offers a benefits package designed to support professional sustainability and life outside of work, including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with SSCV contribution
  • 403(b) retirement plan with employer match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Paid holidays
  • Paid sick and safe leave in accordance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA)
  • Unrestricted Vail Resorts ski pass (5-mountain access)
  • Complimentary membership to the Minturn Fitness Center
  • Program discounts for employees’ children enrolled in SSCV programs
