Job Summary
The Physical Therapist (PT) evaluates the patient’s condition and develops appropriate therapeutic programs to assist in the patient’s recovery and treatment of the condition.
Providence Valdez Medical Center (PVMC) has a Critical Access Hospital with 11 beds and an Extended Care Center with 10 beds. The department is responsible for providing rehabilitation services to the community and long‑term care residents.
The PT coordinates the care of patients, gives directions to PT Assistants and Rehab Aides, and consults and communicates with the physician and DPCS. Care activities are defined in department policies, procedures, and schedules, and follow professional standards. The PT provides care within physician orders and department procedures and policies. The major challenges are dealing with constantly changing patient needs and maintaining up‑to‑date skills and knowledge.
Responsibilities- Evaluate patient conditions.
- Develop therapeutic programs.
- Coordinate patient care, giving direction to PT Assistants and Rehab Aides.
- Consult and communicate with physicians and DPCS.
- Provide care within the boundaries of physician orders, departmental procedures, and policies.
- Maintain current knowledge and skills in a changing environment.
- Coursework or training from a program approved by the Council of Medical Education.
- Degree:
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy, Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy, or Ph.D. in Physical Therapy. - On‑hire requirement:
Alaska Physical Therapist License. - On‑hire requirement:
National Provider BLS - American Heart Association certification.
- Previous experience in a similar setting.
Full time, 1.0 FTE, day shift, 40 hours per week. Multiple shifts available. Base pay range: $49.40 – $76.68 per hour. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives or bonus opportunities. $10,000 hiring bonus for eligible external hires that meet required qualifications and conditions for payment. Relocation assistance available for eligible hires that meet required qualifications and conditions for payment.
