Position: Lead Janitor $22-$25 HRLY DOE & $2000 Sign on Bonus - Valdez, AK - Alyeska Pipeline

This Lead Janitor position provides and directs the activities of those involved in a variety of cleaning services and other related duties required to keep food service areas, office facilities, and similar areas in a clean and orderly condition. All duties are performed in accordance with NMS' mission, vision, and values as well as housekeeping policies, practices, and procedures.

Pay

$22.00/hr - $25.00/hr (DOE)

Sign‑On Bonus
: $2,000 paid over 12 months ($500 after 3 months, $500 after 6 months, $1,000 after 12 months).

Work Schedule

Night shift: 6:00 PM – 4:30 AM, Sunday–Thursday.

Responsibilities
  • Perform all duties required of a janitor or other assigned employee.
  • Accountable for meeting all obligations required of assigned employees.
  • Promote NMS Core Values in the workplace.
  • Direct and guide assigned housekeeping and janitorial employees.
  • Follow and inform assigned employees of client‑directed site‑specific guidelines and procedures.
  • Train new staff and provide ongoing training to existing staff.
  • Conduct inspections to maintain quality of services.
  • Coordinate associated equipment care and maintenance.
  • Ensure all quality standards and work procedures for staff are met.
  • Resolve minor maintenance or client emergencies as they occur or take steps to address them permanently.
  • Assist employees in resolving work‑related difficulties.
  • Identify, resolve, or report safety hazards.
  • Utilize safe work practices and proper PPE.
  • Clean, vacuum, mop, restock hallways, stairways, offices, food preparation or break areas, kitchen areas or equipment, work areas, off‑site areas, common areas, restrooms, public areas, or other similar areas.
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, extract, wax, buff, vacuum floors of all types.
  • Dust both low and high areas; wipe down or clean various surfaces.
  • Use appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions.
  • Remove and properly dispose of discarded materials.
  • Transport trash via vehicle to appropriate disposal areas.
  • Remove linen, towels, and trash from various areas.
  • May clean indoor or outdoor smoking lounges.
  • May change light bulbs and perform very light facility maintenance.
  • May keep building entryways free of snow and debris.
  • Participate in and support corporate and client safety programs.
  • Operate a vehicle to travel and work at several client locations nightly, on and off‑site.
  • Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not met.
  • Notify supervisor of equipment and supply needs.
  • Hold supervisory responsibilities.
  • Other duties pertinent to the department or unit's success may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of experience evidencing a working knowledge of cleaning equipment and general cleaning processes.
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience in a directly related field.
  • Current possession of, or ability to obtain, a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.
  • Pass all pre‑employment contract requirements (drug test, physical assessment, hearing test).
  • Cooperate and work as part of a team with employees, customers, and clients.
  • Make decisions with little to no supervision.
  • Stand, walk, climb, push, pull, use hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch for 10‑12 hours per shift.
  • Speak, understand, read, and write English.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set by the company and client.
Working Conditions and

Physical Requirements

Indoor/Outdoor environments, frequently exposed to arctic conditions. Noise level moderate to loud.

Physical requirements:

Fit for duty test (lift, carry, push, pull, stoop & twist, squat, stairs, slanted ladder). Detailed specification of each test is available on request.
