Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Freshman Recruitment implements Augusta University's freshman recruitment plan to recruit, admit, and enroll new first‑year freshmen students. This position is responsible for the day‑to‑day supervision of multiple Admissions Counselors, each assigned a specific geographic territory with enrollment targets, assisting them in territory management and decisions. Additionally, the Assistant Director manages their own assigned territory to meet enrollment targets.

Responsibilities

TERRITORY MANAGEMENT
:
Manages a specific recruitment territory and is responsible for meeting territory recruitment goals. Uses data to plan and implement recruitment efforts for the assigned geographic territory. Schedules, coordinates, and conducts high‑school visits and speaking engagements for the assigned geographic territory. Travels to college fairs and recruitment events to meet prospective students and their family members. Coordinates school counselor and other constituent relationships.

Corresponds with prospective students and their family members via email, phone calls, social media, and in‑person meetings. Gives presentations to prospective students and their family members at special events, high school visits, and other settings.

RECRUITMENT TEAM LEADER SHIP
:
Supervises, assigns tasks, and provides support and guidance for Admissions Counselors with their individually assigned territory. Teaches staff to utilize data and trends to create a recruitment plan for specific geographic territories. Assists staff in analyzing applicant reports to develop their unique territory recruitment efforts. Trains and guides staff on travel planning and related policies. Analyzes applicant reports for trends to guide recruitment decisions and efforts.

STRATEGIC RECRUITMENT & DEPARTMENTAL LEADERSHIP
:
Creates and implements recruitment tactics and recruitment event programming. Assists in the development and execution of communications to prospective students, including electronic communications sent through Slate CRM. Manages and implements special events and recruitment strategies for special populations, including but not limited to interest meetings, accepted student receptions, recruitment workshops, bus tours, and school counselor meetings. Implements recruitment initiatives for special populations such as the Jaguar Jumpstart, Professional Scholars, and Honors programs (as needed).

COMMITTEES
:
Serves on institutional and divisional committees to support the mission of Augusta University.

OTHER
:
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university with related experience in student affairs, higher education, or related field.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
:
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Understanding of emergent and best practices in the field of recruitment and admission.

SKILLS
:
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail‑oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills. Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated event planning skills.

ABILITIES
:
Ability to maintain confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to lead a team. Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and utilize complex admission and enrollment data. Ability to respond to sensitive inquiries or students in challenging situations. Commitment to the development of a student‑centered, residential campus environment through student‑centered, collaborative teamwork across units and divisions.

Shift / Salary / Benefits

Shift: Days; M‑F (Work outside of the standard business hours may be required)
