OverviewAugusta University’s Honors Program provides high‑potential learners with enhanced undergraduate education through core courses, interdisciplinary seminars, and mentored projects culminating in an honors thesis. The coordinator will develop the Honors Program living‑learning community, advise the Honors Program Student Association, and collaborate on recruitment, fellowships, workshops, and student achievements.
Responsibilities- Assist the Assistant Director to develop advising programs for one‑on‑one sessions throughout the undergraduate career, addressing honors tracks and individual interests.
- Develop and deliver timely professional development and training for internal collaborators.
- Meet each semester with new and current honors students to advise on curriculum, research, scholarship, and creative activity opportunities.
- Advise honors students on career/program choices, clinical experiences, extracurricular activities, leadership skills, service orientation, interpersonal skills, and interview preparation.
- Monitor retention, progression, and graduation of honors students; maintain advising records in compliance with FERPA.
- Recruit and advise students for national fellowships and scholarships; track deadlines and disseminate information.
- Build year‑round communication with active and prospective students to support their academic journey.
- Provide proactive outreach for students at academic or social risk and connect them with appropriate services.
- Collaborate with College Advising Offices, faculty, and other campus units; maintain partnerships with student services and career staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum two years of experience working with students in a higher education setting.
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in advising and program coordination at a college or university.
- At least one year of experience working with an honors program or a similar student population.
Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software; familiarity with university programs and academic procedures.
Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication; strong prioritization and organizational skills; public speaking and editing abilities.
Abilities: Maintain confidentiality; learn Banner, Slate, Crystal, and Jag Trax; work independently and self‑directed; multitask and collaborate as a team member.
Compensation & BenefitsShift: Days; M-F
Pay Band: B6
Salary: $18.85 – $22.58 hourly (commensurate with qualifications within the range).
Recruitment Period: Until Filled
Benefits may include health, dental, and life insurance;
Teachers Retirement System or Optional Retirement Plan; earned vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. Full‑time employees with more than six months of service may be eligible for the Tuition Assistance Program.
All selected candidates must pass a background check before starting. Depending on duties, a credit check, vehicle report, and purchase card approval may be required. Faculty hires must provide proof of completed academic degrees and transcripts.
