Part‑Time Instructor (Elementary Education) Job Summary

The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Based on the recent Proclamation:

Department Summary The Department of Initial Teacher Preparation and Services seeks part‑time faculty to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level in Elementary Education. Part‑time faculty must perform duties associated with teaching at the post‑secondary level. These include (but are not limited to): preparing lectures and their class instructional materials; preparing and leading class discussion; providing prompt responses to student questions and inquiries as well as prompt and appropriate feedback on tests, quizzes, and assignments;

and following VSU policies and procedures related to teaching.

100% Teaching

• Undergraduate Instruction and Supervision:
  Master's degree in the appropriate field (at least 18 graduate credit hours in a related field)
• Graduate Instruction:
  Terminal degree in the appropriate field
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
• A record of mentoring students
• Teaching experience at the college level

Commensurate with experience.

• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Position may require credit check (if using P‑Card, working with cash, etc.).
• Position requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti‑Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.)
