POSITION SUMMARYThe Elementary School Teacher develops and administers a curriculum aligned with district goals and objectives, creating a safe and conducive learning environment for individualized and small group instruction. They design lesson plans, conduct ongoing assessments, and adapt instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special needs. Additionally, they foster responsible citizenship, maintain accurate records, encourage parental involvement, and uphold standards of student conduct and behavior, while collaborating with colleagues and participating in professional development activities.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSEREQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Must hold a valid Georgia teaching certificate in Elementary Education or be eligible for certification.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop and administer school curriculum consistent with Georgia school district goals and objectives.
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials.
- Translate lesson plans into effective learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning.
- Modify instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs.
- Conduct individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Teach students principles of good character as described in the school's PBIS initiatives.
- Apply evidence-based practices to improve literacy and numeracy instruction and outcomes for all students.
- Continue to acquire professional knowledge and stay updated on current educational developments by attending seminars, workshops, and professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Organize and maintain accurate and complete records for grading, reporting student activities, achievement, and attendance, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Encourage parental involvement in students' education.
- Ensure effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensure student conduct conforms with school standards and district policies.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Coordinate with other elementary staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum.
- Participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- Select and requisition appropriate books, instructional aids, supplies, and equipment.
- Maintain inventory records.
- Supervise students during activities outside the classroom, including school transportation.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS- Ability to work well with teachers, school administrative teams, and district office leaders.
- Exceptional integrity, commitment to confidentiality, excellent character, and strong professional reputation.
- Ability to abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Must be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
- Ability to be present at the physical worksite.
- Must perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
- Must perform routine physical activities such as bending, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
