Description
The Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) - Level II is responsible for performing inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of medical and non‑medical support equipment, including medical package tools, generators, and environmental control units. The BMET II ensures all work is conducted in compliance with original equipment manufacturer guidance, DoD instructions, applicable regulations, and unit directives. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and adherence to established procedures to maintain equipment reliability and operational readiness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Must follow original equipment manufacturer guidance, AFI, regulations and unit direction.
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and calibration of biomedical equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in medical devices, performing necessary repairs or coordinating with vendors for service when required.
- Maintain detailed service records, documenting repairs, maintenance actions, and performance evaluations.
- Assist in the installation and configuration of new biomedical equipment, ensuring proper functionality.
- Life cycle management, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of medical and non-medical support equipment (oxygen generating systems, radiographic diagnostics equipment, life support systems, etc.).
- Determine associated support items of equipment in order to perform scheduled services and maintenance repairs and calibration; supply support and provisioning requirements; and training requirements.
- Prepare necessary support documentation and purchase requisitions of parts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Associate’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or related field OR graduated from the DoD Biomedical Maintenance Course or an accredited civilian Biomedical Maintenance Course OR CBET.
- Must graduate from the Planmeca digital dental course no later than 12 months after start.
- Four (4) years of field experience in performing and managing initial inspections, calibrations, diagnostics, maintenance, life cycle management, and repair of medical equipment within OEM guidance, advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of medical and non-medical support equipment (oxygen generating systems, radiographic diagnostics equipment, advanced life support systems, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Must provide documentation of eligibility to legally work in the United States without an employer-sponsored visa.
- Must be able to pass client background screening for security clearance.
- $22.95–$25.00/hour + $5.09 H&W hourly benefit
- Work environment may occasionally include exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration, and risk of radiation.
- Regular exposure to risk of electrical shock and frequent work near moving mechanical parts.
- Work environment noise level is usually moderate.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance, taste, or smell.
- Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands or fingers, handle or feel, talk, or hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 10–25 pounds.
