Under general supervision, the instructor will provide Health Science classroom/clinical instruction to high school and traditional students within the college service area. The instructor demonstrates appropriate teaching techniques, excellent work ethics, accurate testing and grading procedures, maintains grade books, follows the approved course syllabus, completes all reports, records and invoices promptly, and maintains an accurate inventory of assigned properties. The position may include variable hours during the day and evening, including clinical supervision of students.
The instructor is required to ensure a safe and healthy work environment by complying with college health and safety policies, standard practices in maintaining occupational health and safety legislation and regulations.
This position is for the WIN Academy and will be taught on the Valdosta Campus.

Working ConditionsEquipment used:
Standard office equipment; regular use of college-owned or personal vehicle for performance of duties; various types of advanced in-field equipment as required by academic program and accreditation standards.
Category I - High probability of exposure to hazardous chemicals/pathogens. Probability of working beyond the normal shift, but not frequently. Periodic travel between major Wiregrass campuses and satellite sites.
Minimum QualificationsA certificate or diploma in Practical Nursing and a current unrestricted Georgia (GA) Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) license. At least three (3) years of employment experience in nursing or a health science related field within the past seven (7) years. Depending on clinical site requirements, the successful candidate may be required to undergo a drug screen and physical examination with satisfactory results.
Preferred QualificationsAn associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing and a current unrestricted Georgia (GA) Registered Nurse (RN) license. At least three (3) years of employment experience in nursing or a health science related field within the past seven (7) years.
At least one year of nursing home or long‑term care experience. Teaching experience in nursing or other health professions. First Aid/CPR instructor certification.
Salary/BenefitsSalary is commensurate with education and experience. The position is full‑time and includes standard State of GA benefits such as leave accrual, options for health and other supplemental benefits, and retirement. This position may qualify the successful candidate for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. The position may be funded in whole or in part by State/Local/Tuition funds.
Background InvestigationsPursuant to college policy, a thorough background investigation, including a criminal history records check and employment history reference checks, will be performed for all candidates offered employment. Other checks such as motor vehicle records may be conducted for any candidate receiving an offer, as well as internal candidates prior to being promoted or transferred into a position with the college.
Other Required TestsDuring the course of employment, incumbents in this position may be required to supervise students at an external clinical site or other medical facility as a condition of employment. Based on this assignment, the incumbent may be required to undergo and receive a negative finding/result on a ten (10) panel drug test before placement. The successful candidate may also be required to undergo a physical examination and be certified by the examining physician as meeting the requirements for service.
