Position SummaryThe HIM Analyst supports the development, implementation, and ongoing optimization of SGMC’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and related health information technology. This role works to improve workflow efficiency by building and configuring applications that meet organizational needs. The HIM Analyst evaluates the functionality and use of the EHR and Document Management systems, recommending and implementing configuration changes and workflow enhancements based on best practices and experience.
The HIM Analyst is responsible for applying technical expertise to identify, test, and troubleshoot system issues, ensuring that applications perform reliably and effectively. This role also ensures accurate, thorough documentation of system changes, work progress, and issue resolution as part of overall system management. In addition, the HIM Analyst is responsible for project management of HIM and Document Management–related system projects, ensuring initiatives are planned, executed, and completed on time and within scope.
The role also assists with broader system administration needs across the department, supporting application upgrades, workflow enhancements, and other operational technology requirements as needed.
- Epic certification or proficiency within 3 months of being hired is required.
- Operational Experience in data security administration preferred, not required.
- Bachelor degree in a health care profession, management information system, or other related degree preferred.
- Must have at least four years computer experience with technical certification or equal experience.
- Project Management experience preferred, not required.
- Ability to develop, document and ensure adherence to technical standards.
- Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to manage one’s own work independently in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Must be able to maintain professionalism and react to customers appropriately while exhibiting the highest level of customer service.
- Must understand concepts of confidentiality and data security.
- Basic understanding of healthcare operational workflows and terminology preferred, not required.
Business setting, indoors with possibility of irregular hours and/or call back, moderate to heavy stress on a continued basis. Required to work flexible schedule in order to accommodate on-call and other responsibility including accessing system from out-of-campus to analyze/resolve system problem/halts. Required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays on occasions during conversion of software/operating system, or installation of enhancements/hardware, or to meet deadlines.
Require full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity, eye and hand coordination. Requires standing, walking, and sitting for periods of time. Requires corrected vision to acceptable range. Requires lifting, approximately 50 pounds, transporting and installing computer equipment. Must have valid driver’s license.
