SCHEDULEPRN, Varied Hours/Shift, 8
JOB DESCRIPTIONPerforms various cardiac ultrasound imaging procedures, including 2‑D, M‑Mode, color flow mapping, Doppler studies, Tissue Doppler, Strain imaging, echo stress testing, and transesophageal echocardiograms. Performs calculations associated with studies, as indicated. Prepares patients for exams. Prepares Echo studies for physician review, including importing and exporting digital studies. Operates Change Healthcare PACS Viewing station. Takes echo call for “after hours” situations, weekday and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS- High school graduate preferred.
- Additional formal training and education is required. Must be eligible for one of the following credentials:
- RDMS (Registered diagnostic medical sonographer)
- RCS (Registered cardiac sonographer) - Non-Invasive registry.
- RDCS (Registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer)
- Current CPR certification is mandatory.
- Must be experienced and competent in all cardiac ultrasound imaging procedures.
- Must pursue appropriate examinations for registry status within 1 year of hiring.
- Must maintain registry status, once achieved, by meeting mandatory continuing education requirements.
- Must continually strive to further professional knowledge and use this as a basis for making quality decisions when imaging.
- Pediatric experience is a plus but will train.
Works primarily in hospital or clinic setting. Requires considerable standing, mental effort, stooping, bending, lifting (more than fifty (50) lbs.), pushing objects (carts, beds, and wheelchairs). Likely to be exposed to blood and body fluids, including infectious diseases.
