JOB LOCATION : Smith Northview Campus
DEPARTMENT: SNH - OUTPT NURSING
SCHEDULE: , 8 HR Day Shift,
POSITION SUMMARYServes as the primary point of contact for all spine/orthopedic/neuro cases, coordinating pre-op planning, scheduling, and case readiness. Participates in orthopedic and spine program development and performance improvement initiatives. Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Maintains orthopedic and spine registry data, track patient outcomes, and support research initiatives when applicable. Acts as a resource for orthopedic and spine patients and families, providing education and coordinating care across the continuum.
Establishes and maintains orthopedic and spine program distinctions and center of excellence distinction. Monitors and supports patient care and promotes optimal patient outcomes. Develops, evaluates, and revises standards and policies and procedures for orthopedic and spine programs. Collaborates with physicians, nurses and other healthcare provides optimized patient outcomes. Serves as resource to resolve issues/problems, and to facilitate staff competency. Provides education and consultation services for care of the orthopedic and spine patient.
Performs/assists with clinical nursing research as appropriate. Maintains responsibility for the development, implementation and maintenance of the orthopedic and spine program.
- Current RN license in the State of Georgia.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Minimum of three (3) years recent acute care clinical experience required.
- Two years of acute orthopedic/neuro care clinical experience required.
- Teaching experience in the clinical and/or community setting preferred.
- Flexible in work schedule, assignments, workloads, setting priorities and utilizing problem solving techniques.
- Ability to formulate letters, memos, document clinical information, create policies and procedures, and provide learning opportunities.
- Ability to analyze regulations, standards, clinical issues, and patient outcomes.
- Excellent verbal, written, and behavioral communication skills.
- Ability to assess learning/training needs of healthcare personnel.
- Ability to conduct educational programs for a wide range of healthcare personnel.
- Ability to plan education programs based on objectives and evaluate effectiveness of programs.
- Utilize variety of office, educational, clinical and non-clinical equipment.
Works primarily in hospital setting, including clinical/patient care areas and office or classroom/meeting areas. Primarily daytime hours with flexibility required to meet educational needs. Considerable walking, standing, stooping, bending, lifting (occasionally in excess of fifty (50) pounds). Mental effort required to assess, plan, and make or recommend decisions in complex environment. Likely to be exposed to blood/body fluids, including infectious diseases.
Physical functional capacity for healthcare workers as defined by the Saunders Method (very heavy).
