JOB LOCATION : Professional Building

DEPARTMENT: SPN - PULMONOLOGY

SCHEDULE: Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift, Mon-Thurs 8:30- 5:00;
Fri 8:30 - 12:00

POSITION SUMMARY

Promotes delivery of quality patient care through implementation of the nursing processes for all age groups cared and served by SGMC Physicians Group. Functions as a patient advocate, assists with financial control and cost effectiveness in functioning of the facility through the proper use of supplies and patient charges. Will need the ability to work with other clinical staff. Assist with the personal professional growth and development of other staff.

Follows and implements all departmental and SGMC Policy & Procedures and regulatory agencies. Promotes a sense of encouragement for all team members to follow SGMC mission and vision. Maintains an atmosphere which ensures SGMC Physicians Group’s values, goals, policies and procedures are consistently supported and enforced. Assist in the collection of data as required to meet regulatory and other standards.

Will require the ability to be cross trained in all areas of care and service. Works with staff Physicians, other team members, patients and families to provide a cooperative working environment. Plans and organizes daily work habits. Completes in-service education. Ability to formulate judgments based on the recognition of normal physiology. Completes assigned tasks / daily assignments in designated time period while experiencing continuous interruptions.

Assist in Laboratory Collection or onsite testing and related duties as required by Lab Regulatory Agencies. Assist and process workload in an efficient manner to ensure the most expedient turnaround time in patient admission and discharge. Subjected to high levels of stress and irregular work hours.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Current RN License in State of Georgia
  • CPR required
  • One (1) year experience in related specialty area preferred.
  • Ability to work well individually and as a team leader or member.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and, adapt to new situations, think critically, manage priorities and utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret policies, standards, and think critically evaluating patient care issues.
  • Strong clinical nursing skills in assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with, and care for diverse population of patients/family units of all ages, a variety of cultures, and/or persons occasionally exhibiting stressed behaviors.
  • Ability to operate clinical equipment, computer, telecommunication devices and patient information systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS - ADA INFORMATION

Works primarily in hospital or clinic setting. Requires considerable standing, mental effort, stooping, bending, lifting (in excess of fifty (50) lbs.), pushing objects (carts, beds, and wheelchairs). Likely to be exposed to blood and body fluids, including infectious diseases. May rarely require accompanying and assisting with patient transport to another facility. Uses medical equipment, telecommunications devices and patient information systems on a regular basis.

Physical functional capacity for healthcare workers as defined by the Saunders Method (very heavy).
