Position: NURSE PRACTITIONER  - EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

Nurse Practitioner – Emergency Department

SGMC Health is the most comprehensive health system serving South Georgia & North Florida, operating four hospitals, ambulance services, medical offices, cancer center, hospice, retirement and skilled nursing, imaging & urgent cares. Service lines include heart & vascular, stroke, trauma, cancer, orthopedics, surgery & women & infants.

Position Description

An advanced practice nurse in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with a variety of illnesses in an Emergency Department setting. This position will fall under the SGEMA Emergency Medicine group and will be a 1099 employee. The NP will work alongside the ED staff, providing comprehensive care – performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, administering medications, educating patients, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

EMR system is Epic.

Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited, post‑basic educational program for Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants
  • Georgia Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant License
  • Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants
  • Maintains biennial renewal of Board Authorization to practice as a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant
  • CPR Certification
  • ACLS Certification within 180 days of employment
  • Prior ER nursing experience preferred
  • Preferably four years of healthcare employment experience
  • Flexible work schedule, assignments, workloads, setting priorities and utilizing problem‑solving techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within an inter‑disciplinary team and with referring physicians to provide high‑quality patient care
  • Passionate about quality, service excellence, safety, process improvement, program development and team building
  • Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to create a positive and productive environment that promotes collegiality and innovation in all settings
