The hospice aide (CNA) is a paraprofessional member of the interdisciplinary group who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various services for a patient as necessary to meet the patient's personal needs and to promote comfort. The hospice aide reports observations and documents care performed.
Hours & ScheduleFull Time; 40 hours per week. Works in patients' homes in various conditions. Requires flexible schedule, ability to travel locally, and participation in holiday and weekend rotation as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Meet training and certification requirements of the State.
- Current CPR certification.
- Licensed driver with a car insured per organization requirements and in good working order.
- Empathy for the needs of ill, injured, frail, and impaired patients.
- Prolonged standing and walking required; able to lift up to 50 lbs. and move patients.
- Perform personal care needs after receiving a patient's assignment and attending to requests promptly.
- Meet patients' safety needs and use equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2, etc.).
- Perform personal care tasks including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos, and changing bed linen as often as assigned.
- Assist in dressing and undressing patients as assigned.
- Assist in feeding the patient as assigned.
- Assess and report on patients’ condition and significant changes to the case manager.
- Adhere to the organization's documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct.
- Not function in any manner viewed as the practice of nursing according to the Nurse Practice Act (e.g., administer medications, take physician’s orders, or perform procedures requiring licensed nurse training).
- Perform other CNA duties as assigned by management to support department goals and initiatives.
