The Immunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG) represents a new initiative by the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University to leverage the ability of the immune system to combat disease. The IMMCG will assemble teams of biomedical researchers with strong records of scientific innovation and technological development and will be co-directed by immunologists Drs. Catherine, Lynn, Hedrick and Klaus Ley. The goal is to produce novel and effective treatments for conditions that heavily impact the communities of Georgia and the United States.
The new center is actively recruiting faculty and staff to lead projects focused on cardiovascular disease, obesity and metabolic disorders, autoimmune and infectious disease, neurodegenerative disease and cancer.

The Aherrahrou lab, located at the Immunology Center of Georgia, applies in-silico as well as in-vitro and in-vivo methods to further unravel the genetics of cardiovascular diseases. We have a large dataset and are engaged in large networks of national and international collaborations like CARDIoGRAMplus
C4D, Leducq, and others, and actively participate in data and sample exchange. Dr. Aherrahrou’s Research Publications can be found online.
- Interest in or have a good command of bioinformatics or computational biology.
- Application of GWAS, molecular QTL, precision medicine, Single-cell RNA and ATAC-seq, Single-cell CRISPR screening techniques.
- Genetics and biology of cardiovascular diseases.
- Collaborating with computational and wet-lab biologists for mechanism elucidation.
- Preparing written and oral presentations of results for the team and the public.
- Supervising staff and students.
- Maintaining and organizing large amounts of genetic data and summary statistics.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
- Required: Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university.
- Preferred: Ph.D. degree in computational biology (bioinformatics, genomics, etc.).
- KNOWLEDGE: Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
- SKILLS: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- ABILITIES: Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift: Days;
Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
