Maintenance Technician

Overview

Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all equipment in the plant. Must have ability to problem solve maintenance issues in real time.

• Day to day maintenance to include ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and pneumatic problems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and systems on a scheduled basis.
• Routine inspection of existing equipment, such as compressors, electrical connections, and motor operations.
• Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components, using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on equipment maintenance and accurately maintain records.
• Maintain an effective working relationship within functional area and with other departments for optimal performance and quality.
• Establish and maintain a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to all SSF policies as well as federal, state and local regulations.
• Understand and exemplify the SSF Core Values.
• Other duties assigned as required.

• Minimum of three (3) years of Industrial Mechanic experience or a combination of experience and education (food industry environment preferred).
• Working knowledge of equipment to include hydraulics, pneumatic, pumps, valves, cylinders, labeling equipment, fillers, and conveyors.
• Working knowledge of 3 phase, 120V and PLC troubleshooting.
• Skilled in the use of hand, power tools, tape measures, multi-meters.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints and both electrical and electronic schematics.
• Diagnosing malfunctions and defects in equipment.
• Reading blueprints and electrical and electronic schematics.
• Grasping electrical and plumbing concepts.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends (as needed).

• Frequently exposed to wet and cold environment (45ºF, 4ºC), moving mechanical parts.
• Will be exposed to moderate noise levels.

• Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb or balance, reach with hands and arms, use hands to feel or handle objects, talk and hear.
• Climb step and extension type ladders.
• Occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
• Specific visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
