Overview
Dobbs Equipment is seeking a Yard Specialist. This full-time position is located in Valdosta, GA. The role supports the efficiency and security of daily yard or branch activity. The worker will have basic knowledge of heavy machinery to conduct initial inspections of equipment and record information such as fuel. The ability to work outside for extended periods to serve customers and manage associated equipment paperwork (e.g., transfer attachments and related paperwork) per agreements is essential.
Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. (Other duties may be assigned)
- Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
- Work alone with limited supervision.
- Complete machine inspections.
- Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments.
- Participate in all training programs as directed by the General Manager and/or Service Manager.
- Always present a professional image of the dealership.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Valid Driver’s License and maintain a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance and operation.
- Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures.
• Forklift certification preferred or will train.
• Overhead crane preferred or will train.
• Wash rack and steam cleaners’ systems preferred or will train.
- Ability to communicate effectively with teammates.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Self-management and self-motivation.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Quick learner with the ability to think creatively.
- Overnight travel less than 5% (Training).
Note:
Overnight travel is occasional for training purposes.
While performing the functions of this job, the employee regularly works in a service shop setting and may be exposed to temperature changes, wet or humid conditions, noise, vibration, fumes, odors, dust, and close proximity to moving mechanical parts.
- Ability to work with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as respirators, welding shields, hard hats, vests, safety glasses, goggles, gloves, etc.
- Full range of motion for back, arms, hands, and fingers.
- Full range of motion for legs, including climbing, twisting, squatting, and pushing with both legs.
- Ability to use hand tools, fuel hoses, and lubrication systems on equipment.
- Ability to climb onto or down from mobile construction equipment for service and inspection (typically 3–4 feet).
- Lift or carry loads greater than 50 lbs but less than 75 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities including close, distance, and color vision.
- Ability to talk and hear in a typical work environment.
