Salary Range: $22-$28/hr. ($2/hr. increase following training & evaluation period)

This is a full-time position to complete GIS field data collection on utility pipeline project(s) as part of a larger team. Successful candidates will undergo training near the assigned project location followed by working independently or within a team to collect field data throughout multiple locations around the Riverdale Georgia Area. The construction schedule for assigned project(s) can be varied week-over-week, but current projections anticipate construction crews working Monday through Saturday for 10-hour days.

SCE Field Technicians are expected to be available to cover this work schedule. Successful candidates will be paid time and a half for all overtime (hours in excess of 40 hours worked in a given week). Alternatively, if during weekly periods where the construction schedule for assigned projects cannot fulfill a full 40-hour work week, employees can elect to take accrued PTO or time without pay.

A monthly vehicle allowance will be afforded for this position, as a company vehicle will not be assigned.

Under direction, reports to the project location as scheduled and coordinated by the Regional Field Supervisor, and begins capturing, documenting and overseeing the construction activities for the day. Asset locations will be mapped using Global Navigational Satellite Systems (GNSS) equipment connected to a tablet computer running Esri’s ArcGIS Field Maps mobile application. Field technicians will locate all applicable natural gas assets throughout the construction day and within the constraints of the project limits, take photographs of each asset, and complete all required attribute data to document the manufacturer and model, material and personnel information as well as location information.

Field technicians may be required to perform other related duties as required. Field technicians should be knowledgeable of field activities and Client/company procedures used in field data collection. Must have the ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.

• Work in the field for 8+ hours per day if needed by the Client and be outdoors during all weather conditions.
• Walk or stand for the majority of the workday.
• Will be trained in the proper use of GNSS / GIS technology and equipment.
• Perform work safely and compliant with all safety procedures and regulations.
• Interact and effectively communicate with the SCE team and Client.
• Shows a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced work environment.
• Must be able to learn and demonstrate familiarity with natural gas utilities and general construction activities.
• Apply knowledge received during training to work assignments.
• Arrives at work on time every day in a professional manner in both attire and attitude.
• Fulfill overtime and weekend work as required.

• Possess a valid driver’s license.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in GIS or Engineering preferred.
• 1-3 years of working experience. Utility, Construction, and/or Field Survey experience preferred.
