Job SummaryDevelops, monitors, and instructs student‑athletes in a variety of conditioning programs for designated sports. Assists leaders and/or coaches in the day-to-day operations of the Sport Performance facility. Provides assigned student‑athletes with well‑rounded programs that are up to date with current standards and research. Adheres to all rules and regulations that govern the program. Assists with assigned administrative duties.
Responsibilities- Designs, implements, oversees, and maintains scientifically based strength and conditioning programs for assigned teams and/or cohort of student‑athletes.
- Performs appropriate testing to determine the needs of each assigned student‑athlete to assist with program development and individual goals.
- Employs sound coaching techniques and practices.
- Provides supervision of the weight room facility, maintains equipment, and maintains a safe and functioning training facility.
- Responsible for the scheduling and maintenance of the weight room and facilities.
- Reports and documents injuries incurred while training to the appropriate staff and leadership.
- Develops and maintains an internship program in accordance with Kennesaw State University’s internship coordinators and the Exercise Science department.
- Directs and oversees assigned sport performance coach interns in day-to-day program operations.
- Assists with functional rehabilitation as assigned.
- Maintains student‑athlete program records and reports program status to coaches.
- Assists with daily administrative requirements.
- Follows appropriate opening and closing procedures.
- Serves as a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Required Qualifications
- Current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license.
- Certification for Strength and Conditioning personnel (CSCS and/or SCCC).
- Current, and valid CPR/AED certification.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience in strength conditioning, performance training, and/or coaching in a post-secondary level program, professional athlete, professional tour participant or professional coach in a related sport program.
- An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in exercise science, kinesiology, athletic training or related field.
- Establishes and maintains effective professional working relationships with student‑athletes, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and the public.
