Westchester Community College was founded in 1946 as the New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in White Plains. In 1957, the County of Westchester bought the 360-acre John Hartford estate in Valhalla and designated 218 acres for the community college. Job DescriptionWestchester Community College's Accounting and Finance Department seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track instructor capable of teaching accounting and finance courses at the foundational level through intermediate accounting. The instructor will be asked to teach financial, managerial, intermediate accounting and data analytics. Faculty are expected to be active members of the college community and be interested and motivated to assume departmental and campus-wide leadership roles in the future.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a closely related discipline are required. The successful applicant must have a minimum of one year of teaching experience, and must demonstrate practical professional experience in the accounting field, including but not limited to public accounting (auditing, taxation or consulting), corporate finance or related areas.
Comprehensive knowledge of financial reporting, computerized accounting procedures and the FASB pronouncements are essential. The candidate for this position should be an excellent communicator as well as possess experience as a coach and motivator for community college students.
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and evidence of equity-minded practice.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: It is strongly preferred that the successful candidate hold an active New York State CPA license. Evidence of at least 5 years of teaching experience at the college level is strongly preferred. Knowledge and experience teaching the above listed subjects is strongly preferred.

SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $75,170. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $88,234. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit and/or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
