Job Description
Temporary Teacher Assistant for our Summer program (July 6 - August 14) in Valhalla, NY.
What You'll DoThe Teacher Assistant works in integrated and self‑contained preschool classrooms, collaborating with the Special Education Teacher to create a safe, warm, and caring educational environment for our students. The aide follows all OCFS regulations, the school wide PBIS initiative, and collaborates with classroom staff, parents, education consultants, and administration.
Your Responsibilities Will Include- Work under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
- Assist in caring for the physical needs of children.
- Attend staffing, departmental, and in‑service meetings as assigned.
- Assist in keeping classroom and program supplies ready and well‑maintained.
- Maintain professional ethics in the building and outside, regarding the discussion of pupils and their conditions.
- Adhere to program and agency policies.
- Assist individuals with toileting and personal care needs when necessary.
- Assist with behavior management of children under the supervision of the classroom teacher as outlined by program and agency policies.
- Interact with children at all times in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate way, while encouraging self‑help.
- Assist in child observation, record keeping, and assessment.
- High school education or GED (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- Two (2) years of practical experience working with children (preferred).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- $17-21/hr.
