Overview

This Opportunity. WSP is currently initiating a search for a Assistant Team Leader/Data Engineer for our Valhalla, NY office.

Responsibilities
  • Review previous inspection reports and assist in planning of field operations
  • Perform inspection work and compile reports under the direction of the Team Leader
  • Receive directions from Project Manager and other senior staff
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, local and privately funded improvement and development projects
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
  • Extract, load, and Transform (ELT/ETL) data from various sources, including on-premises and cloud-based systems, APIs, databases, and files
  • Develop APIs as needed to transform data in required format from various sources of bridge design and inspection
  • Design and develop CI/CD processes that ensure high availability and agility
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant post-education experience in design, construction, inspection, or other bridge engineering and related data engineering and management
  • Engineer in Training Certification
  • Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, ELT/ETL principles, and data modeling with experience in Dev Ops, Git Repos, and CI/CD pipelines for code deployment
  • Solid programming skills in languages such as Python, PySpark, and SQL, functional knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Physically capable of performing continuous field work, including working at heights and in close quarters, climbing, carrying ladders and gear, working in adverse weather conditions
  • Valid, unrestricted driver license. Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening
  • Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering
  • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR ) preferred
  • Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Store, Microsoft Purview, and Power BI

Compensation

Expected Salary: $90,800 - $129,800

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and may offer additional benefits and compensation, depending on circumstances and the type of work being performed not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
