Duties Description

• Primary point of contact for submission and review of highway work permit (HWP) applications, including certified plans and/or sketches within a defined [Regional] jurisdiction(s) (i.e county or residency).
• Secondary reviewer of HWPs within a defined [Regional] jurisdiction(s) (i.e county or residency).
• Assist Regional Project Review and Permit staff with technical reviews of project submissions and/or HWP applications throughout the Region.
• Inspect HWPs during construction and permit close‑out phases.

• New York State Professional Engineer’s license and current registration.
• Qualifying bachelor’s degree (Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Management, Construction Engineering Management Technology, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning and Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed degrees).
• One year of full‑time qualifying engineering experience with transportation projects related to highways/roadways, railroads, bridges, airports, waterways, building structures, or traffic management and safety systems.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.

Starting salary: $116,534 (increased hiring rate of $103,034 plus a geographic differential up to $13,500). Maximum: $128,752 (standard job rate $115,252 plus geographic differential $13,500). The role may also receive a Mid‑Hudson Adjustment of $2,000 or a Downstate Adjustment of $4,000 depending on location.
