** This Opportunity*
* WSP is currently searching for an Environmental Acoustics and Permitting Consultant with our New York, NY or Valhalla, NY offices.  Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.

This position provides technical assistance and guidance across acoustics (noise/vibration) and environmental permitting projects, with an expected workload of approximately 70% acoustics and 30% broader permitting / multidisciplinary environmental support. It involves producing accurate, concise technical deliverables and documentation regarding project conditions and findings, and ensuring work is delivered to a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.

The successful candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of defined tasks and driving them forward day-to-day in collaboration with senior staff and multidisciplinary teams - working through routine ambiguities independently and escalating key issues/decisions appropriately to protect quality, scope, and schedule.

** Your Impact*
* ** Acoustics / Noise / Vibration (Primary Focus)*
* + Support the delivery of terrestrial noise and vibration assessments for power generation, power transmission, substations, and other linear energy infrastructure projects, including both construction and operational evaluations.

+ Conduct and document noise and vibration field surveys/monitoring, including data collection and interpretation to support project reporting and permitting deliverables.

+ Undertake predictive noise modelling for complex energy and infrastructure projects using Cadna

A (preferred) or equivalent software, including development of robust model inputs, calibration assumptions, mitigation testing, and interpretation of results against applicable criteria and local/state requirements.

+ Support the preparation of clear, technically sound reports and client-ready deliverables, including noise impact assessments, construction noise analyses, technical memoranda, and supporting documentation for environmental permitting and regulatory submissions.

+ Review and interpret field data and background information; develop conclusions and practical recommendations to support project teams and clients.

+ Support preparation of proposals and scope/budget development by defining technical approach, level of effort, program assumptions, and key project risks for acoustic and vibration work streams.

** Environmental Permitting & Multidisciplinary Support (Secondary Focus)*
* + Provide technical assistance and guidance for environmental permitting and impact assessment assignments, supporting the development of documentation and inputs needed for regulatory submissions and project delivery.

+ Support office activities such as technical evaluations, coordination support, and preparation/review of project documentation and technical reports.

+ Support field activities as needed (depending on assignments), which may include data collection, environmental sampling support, and/or construction-related documentation and observation.

** Work Environment & Delivery Expectations:*
* + Work is expected to be both office and field based, depending on current assignments.

+ Candidate is expected to work overtime hours in excess of 8 hours/day, 40 hours / week on an as needed basis

+ Strong work ethic and high degree of flexibility to adjust to changing work priorities.

** Who You Are*
* ** Required Qualifications*
* + Bachelor's Degree in Acoustics, Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Architectural), Physics, or Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.

+ Approximately 5 years of relevant consulting / project delivery experience.

+ Demonstrated experience delivering or supporting noise and/or vibration work (e.g., modelling, analysis, reporting, mitigation evaluation, and/or interpretation of field data).

+ Experience producing accurate and concise documentation and technical reports; strong written and verbal communication skills.

+ Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

+ Ability to progress tasks independently with guidance, collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams and seeking clarification early when needed.

Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS.

* + Master's degree in Acoustics/Acoustical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Environmental Engineering/Science or a related discipline.

+ Engineer-In-Training certification.

+

Experience with Cadna

A and/or other environmental acoustics modelling tools.

+ Experience undertaking underwater noise impact assessments and/or field measurements, including interpretation of results to support environmental permitting and regulatory submissions.

+

Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
