Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Public Safety Officer based in Valhalla, NY. The starting pay is $21.00 plus a lot of benefits. If you are retired from the police department, the stating pay is $26.00 per hour plus a lot of benefits. The Public Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the campus community, including monitoring and maintaining physical security, enforcing policies, and responding to emergencies.

The role involves working closely with students, faculty, staff, and visitors to provide excellent customer service while maintaining a secure environment. Additional duties include patrolling campus grounds, reporting incidents, assisting with emergency response, and collaborating with local law enforcement as needed.

Qualifications
  • Proficient in Emergency Services and Public Safety to address urgent incidents and maintain a safe environment.
  • Experience in Physical Security and Law Enforcement, including patrolling and responding to security concerns.
  • Strong Customer Service skills to provide assistance and foster positive interactions with the campus community.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations, with good decision-making and communication skills.
  • Previous experience in public safety, security, or law enforcement is preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certifications in security or law enforcement is a plus. Must have NYS security license
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures applicable to an educational or healthcare setting is beneficial.
