Position: Part-Time Lecturer Pool - International Strategy and Security - Solano Campus (26/27)

cal poly solano campus – appointments from the part‑time pool are temporary and often must made just prior to the start of the academic term, so applicants must be available on very short notice.

international strategy and security, part‑time lecturer pool. The international strategy and security (iss) major and academic program at the cal poly solano campus of california polytechnic state university (cal poly) is seeking applications for a pool of part‑time lecturers with positions available as determined by need and funding during the fall and/or spring semesters of the  academic year, beginning august 17, 2026.

Teaching assignments are contingent upon budget and enrollments. The iss program is institutionally housed in the philosophy department in the college of liberal arts. This is an in‑person teaching position at the cal poly solano campus in vallejo, ca.

responsibilities and duties include the following
  • required courses of instruction: introduction to international relations, comparative politics
  • additional preferred courses: united states foreign policy, international political economy, research methods
  • optional courses/teaching areas: environmental policy, security studies, maritime studies
education

initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the lecturer a or b rank. As of july 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

  • lecturer a: $5,507–$6,677
  • lecturer b: $6,221–$13,224
  • lecturer c: $6,825–$14,523
  • lecturer d: $8,593–$15,221
