AVID Tutor Position

MIT Academy is seeking an AVID Tutor to support our high school students in developing strong academic and leadership skills. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nationally recognized college readiness program designed to prepare all students for success in four-year universities. As an AVID Tutor, you will facilitate collaborative study groups, guide students through inquiry-based learning, and serve as a positive role model and mentor.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate small-group, student-centered study sessions
• Support students in developing effective note-taking, questioning, and study strategies
• Provide feedback to students and AVID teachers on academic progress
• Model academic and professional behaviors consistent with the AVID philosophy
• Assist with program logistics and classroom organization

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required; some college coursework preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to relate well to middle and high school students
• Dependable, flexible, and collaborative
• Must reside in or be able to obtain Live Scan clearance with Solano County before employment

Compensation & Benefits:

• Hourly rate: $19.05 – $25.39, depending on experience and qualifications
• Paid training provided
• Flexible scheduling aligned with school hours
