The Community Schools Site Level Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the school, families, and community partners to support student success and engagement. This role is responsible for identifying and connecting students, families, and staff with community resources, organizing events that enhance family involvement, and fostering a positive school climate through collaboration with stakeholders. The coordinator will work closely with school leadership.
REPRESENTATIVEDUTIES:
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with community-based organizations, agencies, and businesses; lead monthly meetings to align services with school goals and evaluate partner impact through review of MOUs.
- Coordinate and facilitate family education programs on topics such as English language learning, academic support, student engagement, and parenting strategies.
- Conduct and analyze school-wide needs assessments to identify student, family, and staff support needs; coordinate aligned services, avoid duplication, identify and secure appropriate community resources to meet those needs. This is ASP work
- Compromise Language:
Collaborate with site leadership to facilitate school-wide needs assessments that identify student and family support requirements, ensuring community resources are effectively mapped and accessible to the school community - Meet all submission deadlines / timelines for needs assessments, APR reports and other grant activities.
- The Community Schools Coordinator is the driver force of the Community Schools work and is responsible for report, creation and submission.
- Support and promote family engagement events such as Family Nights and educational workshops that foster a welcoming and involved school community.
- Lead outreach efforts to engage underrepresented families and organize volunteer sign-up drives to increase school-approved community involvement.
- Actively participate in School Site Council (SSC), English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), and PTA/PTO meetings while supporting outreach and engagement of underrepresented families.
- Foster student engagement by coordinating with teachers, staff, and partners to organize student clubs, activities, and events that promote school pride and amplify student voice.
- Manage and maintain the Family Resource Room in collaboration with food banks and local organizations; coordinate donations and maintain a student clothing closet.
- Assist in developing and implementing a morning van pick-up program and provide other transportation support as needed, including driving a district van.
- Collaborate with the transportation department to support specific transportation accommodations for students and families.
- Collaborate with the VCUSD Communications Department to highlight positive school events and ensure accurate, up-to‑date content on the school website; identify relevant community grant opportunities and share them with the Community Services Manager or designee.
- Complete and submit the site's Annual Performance Review (APR) report as required by the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP).
- Participate in the annual presentation to the Vallejo City Unified School District Board to share progress and outcomes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Associates degree required.
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience leading, managing or founding initiatives that focus on community engagement, family outreach, or student support services. This could include public education, nonprofit organization or comparable initiatives.
