Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. Most new lecturers are hired at Lecturer A or B rank. Approximate salary ranges as of July 2024 are:
Lecturer A $5,507–$6,677;
Lecturer B $6,221–$13,224;
Lecturer C $6,825–$14,523;
Lecturer D $8,593–$15,211.
- Teach engineering technology and engineering plant operations courses, including design, troubleshooting, and operations of marine and facility engineering systems.
- Develop course materials, assessments, and grading rubrics in alignment with program objectives.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance course content and student learning outcomes.
- Engage in student‑centered learning activities and provide academic mentorship.
- B.S. in Marine Engineering Technology, Facilities Engineering Technology, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Effective written and oral communication in English.
- Experience teaching or industrial experience in maritime or facilities engineering is required; USCG Second Assistant Engineer license is highly desirable.
- Graduate degree in a related engineering discipline.
- Teaching or industry experience in the maritime sector or USCG licensing.
- Experience working with diverse populations and fostering inclusive learning environments.
