Location: Cal Poly – Solano Campus (Vallejo)

Unit: 3 – CFA – California Faculty Association, Temporary, Part Time, Faculty – Engineering, On-site (work in‑person at business location)

Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. Most new lecturers are hired at Lecturer A or B rank. Approximate salary ranges as of July 2024 are:
Lecturer A $5,507–$6,677;
Lecturer B $6,221–$13,224;
Lecturer C $6,825–$14,523;
Lecturer D $8,593–$15,211.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach engineering technology and engineering plant operations courses, including design, troubleshooting, and operations of marine and facility engineering systems.
  • Develop course materials, assessments, and grading rubrics in alignment with program objectives.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance course content and student learning outcomes.
  • Engage in student‑centered learning activities and provide academic mentorship.
Required Qualifications
  • B.S. in Marine Engineering Technology, Facilities Engineering Technology, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Effective written and oral communication in English.
  • Experience teaching or industrial experience in maritime or facilities engineering is required; USCG Second Assistant Engineer license is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in a related engineering discipline.
  • Teaching or industry experience in the maritime sector or USCG licensing.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering inclusive learning environments.
