Are you an experienced maritime professional ready to share what you have learned at sea and help shape the next generation of marine engineers?

The Engineering Technology Department at Cal Poly Maritime Academy is seeking experienced professionals for full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor and Associate Professor positions.

This is an opportunity to bring your real-world maritime experience, technical expertise, and passion for the profession into the classroom, and onto our training ship.

Our programs are built around learn by doing, preparing cadets for careers as licensed marine engineers and engineering professionals through hands‑on experiences in classrooms, laboratories, facilities, simulators, and at sea.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Teach and mentor future marine engineers
• Bring your industry and shipboard experience into the classroom
• Teach courses in Marine Engineering Technology, Facilities Engineering Technology, Engineering Plant Operations, and Sea Training
• Contribute to the evolution of maritime engineering education
• Participate in summer sea training and work alongside cadets aboard our training ship

We welcome applications from experienced maritime professionals with a bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a closely related field. USCG licensure and significant industry experience are valued but not required.

Anticipated academic year annual salary (Summer sea‑training compensation is additional to the academic‑year salary):
Assistant Professor: $106,000–$117,000 Associate Professor: $114,000–$126,000

Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and USCG licensure, as applicable.
