This position is located at the Cal Poly Solano Campus in Vallejo, California. Under the general supervision of the Senior Director of Facilities Management, the Plumber performs the full range of skilled journey-level plumbing work including installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodel and repair of mechanical plumbing equipment and fixtures for water, gas, oil, steam, sewage, fire sprinkler/prevention, and refrigeration-related plumbing systems.
KeyQualifications
- Maintain, troubleshoot and test plumbing systems, including backflow prevention devices.
- Assemble, install and repair pumps, pipes, fittings, and fixtures.
- Cut, thread and weld pipes.
- Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings and pipes composed of a variety of metals and materials.
- One year of varied experience as a journey level plumber and completion of a recognized apprenticeship in plumbing.
- OR five years of varied experience installing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing standard plumbing equipment. An Associate of Arts or Certificate of Arts Degree in Plumbing from an accredited community college may be substituted for two years of required experience.
- Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain by date of hire.
- Possibility to obtain AHERA Supervisor certification for asbestos related work and Cal/OSHA Lead training. Ability to wear respiratory protection. Cal/OSHA mandated medical evaluation required prior to use of respirator.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $73,000 - $85,000 per year
Classification Range: $57,336 - $98,580 per year
