The Lead Mechanic plays a key role in maintaining and repairing diesel engines and heavy marine equipment used on tugs, barges, and construction machinery. This hands‑on position requires advanced diagnostic skills, leadership, and a strong commitment to safety and performance.

• Inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel engines, propulsion systems, and mechanical components.
• Troubleshoot and service hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems (AC/DC).
• Perform preventative maintenance and document all repairs.
• Direct and support mechanics and laborers to ensure timely, cost‑effective work completion.
• Train and mentor junior team members.
• Assist with rigging, machinery removal/installation, and deck equipment maintenance.

• Extensive experience with diesel engines, drivetrain, and marine systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Ability to work independently and lead a small team effectively.
• Strong problem‑solving and organizational skills.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions.
