Case Aide – Vallejo

Alternative Family Services is hiring an on‑call Case Aide to support our Vallejo and San Francisco teams. The position is contingent and requires transporting foster youth to and from appointments such as doctor visits, therapy and supervised visits, ensuring their safety.

This is an on‑call/as‑needed role with non‑benefit compensation. Scheduling may fluctuate; availability will be discussed during interview.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and well‑being of the foster child at all times.
  • Visit client sites and transport clients using a personal vehicle into a variety of community settings.
  • Submit written documentation and/or computer data entry of such visitations and activities to supervisor or CPS workers.
  • Provide a variety of interventions, including coaching, mentoring, skill building, tutoring and supportive feedback.
  • Provide services via methods consistent with the agency’s treatment philosophy and approach.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy practices.
  • Adhere to the organization’s attendance and punctuality policy.
Qualifications
  • Obtain and maintain fingerprint and government and agency required background clearances.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Valid California driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, vehicle registration and auto insurance showing as an insured driver on the policy.
  • High level of integrity, honesty and strong work ethic.
  • Fluency in English; bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Ability to interact calmly and professionally with clients who may act out due to behavioral disabilities.
  • Ability to work with co‑workers, county representatives and other treatment team members in a cooperative team.
  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Experience working with diverse cultural populations.
  • Experience in Child Development or Psychology is a plus.
Driving Requirements

Field‑based position: work is conducted within foster homes and in the community throughout Solano, Contra Costa and San Francisco counties. Employees must possess a valid CA driver’s license, vehicle registration and automobile insurance in their name, and the ability to access a car in safe working condition on a daily basis.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $20/hour.
  • Additional bilingual pay differential of $1.20/hour for fluent Spanish speakers.
  • Additional pay specialized program differential of $2.40/hour for supporting SF Juvenile Justice (Probation) work in and around San Francisco.
  • IRS standard mileage reimbursement.

Other than legally mandated benefits such as paid sick leave, worker’s compensation insurance and Social Security, there are no additional benefits for this position.
