Unit Information:
This unit consists of 19 beds with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:3-6. Common diagnoses include pneumonia, rehabilitation, COPD, CHF, pancreatitis, and GI bleed.
Experience &
Skills:
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required
- Experience with IV starts, telemetry, NG tube insertion, and Foley catheter insertion
- No previous travel experience is required
Clinical Responsibilities:
- RNs will set up and be competent with respiratory therapy equipment including BiPAP, CPaP, and high-flow nasal cannula
- Registered Nurses are required to read their own telemetry strips
Support Staff:
The unit is supported by a CNA per shift for personal care, vital sign monitoring, and weight checks.
Shifts & Scheduling:
- Shifts:
7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. - Weekend and holiday requirements:
Every other - Possible team and self-scheduling
Orientation:
New hires typically undergo 3-4 shifts of unit-specific orientation.
