Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher in Valparaiso, IN, focused on working with young students aged 3-5 in a severe classroom setting. This role involves supporting students with behavioral, emotional/social, and learning disabilities, alongside additional staff resources to enhance teaching effectiveness.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering individualized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with severe disabilities
  • Collaborating with support staff to develop and implement behavior support plans and emotional/social skill development
  • Monitoring and documenting student progress and adjusting instructional strategies as needed
  • Creating a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and development
  • Communicating regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams to support student success

Qualifications:

  • Valid Indiana Special Education teaching license with an intense/severe endorsement
  • Alternatively, candidates holding an Illinois Special Education License along with LBS1 Certification will be considered
  • Experience working with young children (ages 3-5) with severe behavioral and learning needs is preferred
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and adaptive learning environment
