Adjunct Faculty are hired each term on an as‑needed basis for the National Security Agency Grant train participants, 75% of whom are first responders (Law enforcement, Fire Fighters, EMT) and military (veterans, active, and reserve).

Responsibilities
  • Create a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals.
  • Provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the NSA Grant Directors and Principal Investigators.
  • Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Optimize course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Develop and implement active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
  • Interact with students and co‑workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensure knowledge of and implement emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.

Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Qualifications

NSA Grant Cyber Security Workforce Certification (CWCT) Standard:

  • Possesses an earned master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in information assurance or related field as appropriate to the program.
  • Possesses an earned related or out‑of‑accredited institution, with documented 18 semester hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in information assurance or related field as appropriate to the program; or possesses an earned related or out‑of‑accredited institution, with documentation in two or more of the following:
    • Professional certification (national, regional, or state)
    • Two years of in‑field professional employment
    • Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
    • Documentation of research and publication in the field
    • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree, equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject‑matter vendor, or military
  • Possesses an earned bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in information assurance or related field as appropriate to the program, with documentation in two or more of the following:
    • Professional certification in the field
    • Two years of in‑field professional employment
    • Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
    • Documentation of research and publication in the field
    • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject‑matter
  • Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre‑employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.
