Preschool Instructor; Part-time

Valpo Parks seeks a part-time preschool/youth enrichment teacher to develop and conduct classes for children ages 2‑4.

As a member of the recreation staff, the part‑time preschool/youth enrichment teacher conducts preschool programs at Discovery Cottage. This position is responsible for providing safe and developmentally appropriate preschool classes to youth ages 2 to 4 years old.

• Ensure children are supervised at all times
• Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games, crafts, and storytelling
• Build children's esteem
• Work as a team with co‑teacher in daily classroom lessons
• Develop monthly lesson plans
• Implement positive discipline when required
• Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand
• Observe children and make note of progress
• Plan and prepare materials for class ahead of time
• Create new age‑appropriate classes

Work time during the school year is Monday through Thursday, either 9 am–1 pm or 8:30 am–11:30 am. For Summer Camp in June, it’s M/W/Fri 8:30–12:30 pm.
