DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: The following responsibilities are required of the position, plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the building principal.

• Engage students in learning, manage student behavior in a positive, proactive and constructive manner for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Prepare students to become productive responsible citizens through positive proactive engagement and modeling.
• Create a flexible program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth.
• Establish effective rapport with students, seek to meet individual student needs.
• Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continuing education.
• Establish positive relationships with students, parents and other staff members.
• Supervise students within assigned areas and as needed.
• Develop lesson plans.
• Deliver group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines.
• Provide diverse learners with accommodations and modifications to ensure learning, including IEP, 504 plan, Health Care Plan or other legally mandated documents.
• Collaborate with other teachers, administrators to address instructional and/or classroom issues.
• Respond to a wide range of inquiries from students, parents, and guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.
• Create and support a culture that empowers students.
• Encourage a culture of inclusiveness and support for all children.

• Indiana License to teach in appropriate grade/subject.
• Supervisory responsibility: students, volunteers, assistants.

• Standing up to four hours, climbing, bending, stooping and lifting up to 20 lbs as part of routine job activities within the classroom environment.
