REPORTS TO

Vice President of Operations

SENSIT BACKGROUND

SENSIT Technologies has been a leading supplier of gas leak detectors to the North American natural gas industry since the 1980s. Founded by a husband-and-wife team, the company has grown from humble beginnings in the barn on the family farm to approximately $50m of annual sales.

SENSIT has been built on providing trust to those who rely on our products to protect their life, property and our environment from hazardous gases. That trust was built on the powerful combination of a robust product offering and our culture of always putting the customer first.

Before entering a building where there is the potential for a lethal gas leak, our customers will pick up their SENSIT device and put their faith and life in the hands of our efforts. Our instruments may be the only way they will know that an area is potentially explosive or poisonous.

SENSIT’s strong sense of purpose led to the business being acquired by Halma in February 2020. Halma are a global group of technology companies whose purpose closely aligns to SENSIT’s own. Leaders at the individual operating companies are given the opportunity to take ownership, be entrepreneurial and proactively grow like they are running their own business.

While the natural gas industry to some may not seem a place of significant opportunity in a world pursuing sustainability. Those involved in the industry will tell you otherwise.

The impacts of climate change are now evident in all of our lives. This has brought a societal and regulatory focus on greenhouse gas emissions from all energy sources. Methane emissions from natural gas are more than 28 times as potent as carbon dioxide at trapping heat in the atmosphere. Helping our customers find gas leaks fast helps achieve significant reductions in these emissions and protect our environment from potential atmospheric warming.

Our products will increasingly be used not just for individual safety but to protect all of us on earth.

It's then not just methane emissions that are damaging our planet's ecosystem. Members of our communities are regularly breathing dangerous levels of volatile organic chemicals, like benzene which is linked to leukemia and other blood cancers. Our products are now being deployed to detect and locate these hazardous emissions of carcinogens from industry to our air.

Due to these market dynamics, we do believe we stand on the precipice of significant growth but to achieve this growth our approach to new product development needs to improve.

Today, at times we simultaneously have too much inventory (many parts with months/years of inventory) and too little inventory (our manufacturing team are often stopped by part shortages). We’re looking for a Buyer in our Valparaiso location to help us plan purchases better, reduce cost and simplify vendor relationships to enable the success of SENSIT globally.
